Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively remove coloring matters staying in digestive liquid by adsorption by the procedure in which powdered activated carbon is added to the gasification process of a two phase-type anaerobic digesting method and then the activated carbon is used circularly while being revitallized.
CONSTITUTION: An organic waste (e.g., sewage sludge, etc.) supplied to the acid- forming tank 2 by means of the sludge pump 1 is treated by facultative anaerobe at approx. 30W60°C and at pH 4.5W6.5 in the tank 2, and then the slurry so treated is sent to the gasification tank 3 to treat it by absolute anaerobe at approx. 30W60°C and pH approx. 6.5W8 in order to remove coloring matters, e.g., lignin, etc., by adsoprtion of activated carbon supplied by the sludge pump 10. Gas generated is introduced into the gas holder 5 and the digested liquid is introduced into the solid-liquid separator 6. Then, part of the sludge separated in the tank 6 is introduced into the activated carbon and then sent to the mixing tank 8 to mix it with the remaining sludge. Then, the mixture is returned to the gasification tank 3 by the sludge pump 10 for reuse.
