Abstract
PURPOSE: To achieve the volume reduction of organic solids, the purification of waste water and the recovery of anaerobic fermentation gas with a small apparatus volume by causing 2-stage digestion of organic solids and waste water by substrate decomposing bacterium groups and methane fermentation bacterium groups at a middle temperature region.
CONSTITUTION: Organic solids are finely ground with a grinder 4 and is mixed with the waste water from a water supply pipe 1'. A mixture is then put in a storage tank 5. The suspension of the tank 5 is supplied into the 1st anaerobic treating tank 1 which maintains substrate decomposing bacteria at high concentration. In said tank, it is treated for 18 or 36 hours in a middle temperature region to cause the ground organic solids to decompose. Next, the liquid in the tank 1 is sent into a precipitating tank 7 where the substrate residues are sedimented and the waste water having been decreased of floating solids is sent into a storage tank 10. The substrate residues sedimented in the tank 7 are returned to the tank 1. The waste water in the storage tank 10 is methane-fermented in a middle temperature region in the plural 2nd anaerobic treating tanks 15 containing high concentrations of methane fermentation bacteria. The methane-contg. gas is recovered from an exhaust pipe 19 and the waste water is flowed out from the pipe 22.
