Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy of the screen printing of a heating resistor and decrease the dispersion of resistance value by a method wherein electrode patterns are buried in grooves made up to a substrate, etc., and heating resistor patterns are built up on the patterns, in a thick-film type thermal head.
CONSTITUTION: A thermal resistance layer 2 is formed on a substrate 1 consisting of an insulating material of alumina, etc., and rectilinear grooves 3 are made up on an upper surface of the thermal resistance layer 2. Electrode patterns 4 for supplying power are buried in the grooves 3 at intervals, and the electrode patterns 4 and the thermal resistance layer 2 are made the same plane level. Heating resistors 5 consisting of ruthenium oxide, etc. are built up on such smooth planes by means of screen printing in shapes that sections among electrodes are bridged. Screen printing can be done accurately because a screen printing surface is smooth. The grooves 3 for burying the electrode patterns may directly be formed on the substrate 1 without using the thermal resistance layer 2.
