Abstract

PURPOSE: To desulfurize an exhaust gas at a high rate by introducing an exhaust gas to a wet absorbing tower from a reaction cooling and dust collection processes to be brought into contact with an alkaline absorption liquid containing sodium hydroxide and the like.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas 1 containing soots including SO2 and SO3 in a glass melting furnace or the like is first introduced to a cooling water 2 where an alkali solution is sprayed to cool it while a granular solid mainly composed of sodium sulfate or the like is produced. Then, after dust is collected, the granular solid is sent to a wet absorption tower 11 to be brought into contact with an alkaine absorbing liquid containing sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and the like whereby most of SO2 and SO3 left in the exhaust gas can be absorbed. Thus, a high rate of desulfurization is possible through such resulfurization of the sulfur oxides left over.
