Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent scale troubles of desulfurizing apparatus so as to carry on the above-described desulfurization stably and for a long time, by controlling the ratio of CaSO3 to CaSO4, which are formed by the absorption with absorbing soln. to which is added CaCl2, according to the concn. of CaCl2 in the absorbing soln.
CONSTITUTION: An SOX-contg. gas is washed with an absorbing soln. made by addition of CaCl2 to either of CaCO3 or Ca(OH)2 or to the both. The ratio of CaSO3 to CaSO4 formed in the absorbing soln. is controlled suitably according to the concn. of CaCl2 in the absorbing soln. thereby decreasing CaSO3 contained in the absorbing soln. and mist, consequently the formation and growth of hard scale at the mist separator is restrained as little as possible so as to remove the scale troubles at the mist separator, simultaneously the scale troubles in the absorbing tower and the circulation system are also decreased.
