CONSTITUTION:The photoconductive layers 1A, 1B of a photoreceptor 1 are charged in mutually opposite directions. More specifically, these are subjected to primary charging of positive polarity under uniform irradiation of the B-color light, then to the secondary charging of negative polarity in the dark, slightly less than the primary charging. In this state, electric double layers are formed double with opposite directions of dipole moment via the photoconductive layers 1A, 1B, so that the surface potential of the photoreceptor 1 of this time is made 0. If the A-color light and the B-color light are irradiated to the photoreceptor 1 of this time, the photoconductive layer 1A is made conductive in the part irradiated with the A- color light and the photoreceptor surface potential assumes negative polarity.
