Abstract
PURPOSE:To take out an ingot uniformly cooled over nearly the whole circumference at the exit of water from a mold, by increasing the quantity of cooling water at the upper wall of a mold structure to more than that of the lower wall of the mold structure. CONSTITUTION:The above mold for continuous horizontal casting 1 is cooled by cooling water supplied to the jacket for cooling water 2. On this occasion, the ingot passing horizontally through the mold 1, is cooled by increasing the quantity of the cooling water for the upper wall of the mold 1a to more than that of the lower wall of the mold 1b. Also, the walls 1a and 1b are separated by a partition 3 at the boundary and the walls 1a and 1b are cooled by the different quantity of the cooling water. The ingot is thus cooled uniformly over nearly the whole circumference at the exit of the mold 1, and taken out.
