Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a high Mn nonmagnetic steel having a low thermal expansion coefft. and high yield strength and fit for a nonmagnetic structural member by adding a specified amount of V, N, etc. to a Cr-contg. high Mn steel.
CONSTITUTION: To a high Mn steel contg. 0.2W0.5% C, 0.1W1.0% Si, 20W35% Mn and 1.0W8.0% Cr as basic components are added 0.1W1.0% V and/or 0.2W 0.4% N. To the composition may be added one or more among <1.0% each of Mo, Nb, Ti and Zn together with <4% Ni. The resulting steel has ≤12.5× 10-6/ °C average thermal expansion coefft. at 0W100°C and 0.2% yield strength at a state after soln. heat treatment is ≥35kg f/mm2, and said steel is fit for a nonmagnetic structural member for a nuclear fusion reactor or a magnetically floating linear motor car.
