Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a 9%Ni-shape steel having excellent mechanical strength at superlow temperatures and less bend without the need for hardening and tempering treatments by subjecting a shape steel containing specific proportions of C, Si, Mn, and Ni to a normalizing treatment and a tempering treatment under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A shape steel, containing 0.03W0.2% C, 0.1W0.4% Si, 0.3W2.0% Mn, and 8.0W10% Ni, and Fe and inevitable impurities, together with, as needed, 0.05W0.5% Mo, is subjected to the first normalizing treatment in a temperature range of 800W900°C in such a way as to form martensite and then to the second normalizing treatment in a temperature range of 640W670°C in such a way as to convert the martensite structure into a tempered ferrite structure and a banded martensite structure. Then, the steel is tempered at 550W600°C to obtain ferrite structure, tempered martensite structure, and fine and stable austenite structure.
