Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a no-nickel high-manganese-content steel for a temperature, which has an excellent low-temperature tenacity and a small thermal expansion coefficient and comprises prescribed quantities of C, Si, Mn, Cr and sol. Al and the rest of Fe and unavoidable impurities and whose C, Mn and Cr contents comply with limiting conditions and which is used after casting and plastic working.
CONSTITUTION: A steel, which comprises 0.2W0.75% of C, 0.2W1% of Si, 17W 30% of Mn, 1W9.5% of Cr, 0.005W0.06% of Al (sol) and the rest of Fe and unavoidable impurities and is limited as 30C+Mn+0.5Cr≥32%, is plastically worked after casting, thereby producing a no-nickel high-Mn-content steel for a low temperature. This steel contains no Ni although a conventional steel for a low temperature of -100°C or less cannot help containing Ni. Since the present steel is caused to contain a large amount of low cost Mn, a single structure of austenite is produced.
