Abstract

PURPOSE: A thermal shock-resistant cast steel suitable for parts subject to a heating- cooling cycle at less than 950°C, prepared by including specific amounts of C, Cr, and Ni.
CONSTITUTION: A cast steel contains 0.25 to 0.45% C, 0.50 to 2.00% Si, <2.00% Mn, 18 to 28% Ni, and 13 to 19% Cr.
USE: The cast steel has excellent thermal shock resistance against a repeated thermal cycle involving heating and cooling at less than 950°C and thus is suitable for parts subject to heating and cooling, e.g., hearth roll used in the continuous annealing line for strip steel, etc..
