Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove deleterious materials without exhaustion of it by applying absorbing desulfurization, absorbing desulfurization and denitration to the exhaust gas containing sulfur oxide and nitrogen oxide by means of specific compound.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas is desulfurized by rinsing and absorbing the gas with the solution or suspension of at least one kind of compound selected from ammonium, alkali metal hydroxide, alkaline earth metal hydroxide, ammonium sulfite, alkali metal sulfite, alkaline earth metal sulfite, alkali metal carbonate, and alkaline earth metal carbonate. The treated gas is made to flow through the catalyst layer of activated charcoal impregnated the aqeous solution of ammonium sulfate or alkali metal sulfate to absorb/remove the sulfur oxide in the exhaust gas. Then the gas is made to flow through the catalyst layer of activated charcoal impregnated the aqueous solution of ammonium sulfite or alkali metal sulfite to oxidize the nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas and remove it by reduction.
