Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the quantity of a waste washing liquid used to wash the ion exchange resin after passing chemicals through the resin in its regeneration, by passing water retained in a tower, through the anion exchange resin layer and thereafter draining the water from a strainer on a separation surfaces of both resins.
CONSTITUTION: To wash the ion exchange resin in a mixed-bed demineralization tower after passing the chemicals through the resin in its regeneration, air is introduced into the tower through its top and water retained in the tower is passed through an upper resin layer and drained from a strainer on the separation surfaces of both resin layers together with washing water flowing from the lower resin layer. Since the water retained in the tower is effectively used to wash the resin, the total quantity of a waste liquid is decreased and the time of the regeneration is shortened.
