Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten aqueous ammonia circulation time and prevent the leakage of Na ions, by performing back wash with water again before circulation of aqueous ammonia in a method of regenerating cation and anion exchange mixed resins.
CONSTITUTION: Cation and anion exchange mixed resins used in the water column of ammonia-type condensed water desalting equipment are transferred into a regeneration column. The exchange resins are back-washed in water first so the resins are almost divided into a cation and an anion exchange resins. The upper layer of the anion exchange resin is regenerated by an alkali regenerating agent and back-washed again in water so that both the resins are completely separated from each other. Aqueous ammonia is then caused to flow only downward through the resins. The lower layer of the cation exchange resin is thereafter regenerated by an acid regenerating agent. As a result, the circulation time of the aqueous ammonia is shortened and the leakage of sodium ions into processed water is reduced.
