Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect continuous separation and transfer of anion- and cation-exchange mixed resin with largely reduced time as well as provision of a small tank capacity by merely introducing said mixed resin into a resin reservoir tank.
CONSTITUTION: From the top to the bottom of an ion-exchange resin reservoir tank, an anion zone A, a charging zone B, and a cation zone C are placed in this order, and the diameter of the anion zone A is made smaller than that of the cation zone C. Then, from an inlet pipe 2 is introduced a mixed resin which has treated condensate in a desalting tower, and the anion and cation resins are separated into an upper and lower layer, respectively, owing to their different specific gravities. Because the tank diameter D2 in the anion zone is smaller, the flow rate is faster, and hence the anion resin is flowed upward and transferred from an outlet 6 to an anion regeneration tower 16. The cation zone C has a larger diameter to cause a smaller upward flow, and therefore the cation resin falls down and is transferred from an outlet 5 to a cation regeneration tower 15.
