Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform proper recirculation of exhaust gas consistently by preventing mal- operation due to difference in displacement detectors by controlling a control valve for recirculating exhaust gas by comparison of the output value of displacement detector with actually measured output value, memorized according to operational conditions.
CONSTITUTION: The exhaust suction pipes 14 and 16 of the engine 10 are connected with the EGR pipe 18 which is provided with the EGR valve connected to the diaphragm 28, and the negative pressure chamber 30 is connected with the negative pressure pipe 40 through which intake negative pressure is introduced. The negative pressure pipe 40 is connected to the open-air through pipe 48 through the respective control valves 38 and 46 which are controlled by the computer 58 into which the signals of the displacement detector 50 to detect the moved amount of the control valve 22, the air amount sensor 52, the revolving number sensor 54, and the wheel speed sensor 56 are put for comparison with actually measured values, whereby enabling both the control valves 38 and 46 to be controlled properly.
