Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease NO2 in an exhaust gas from supplying steam through a simple constitution by providing a means to generate steam from an exhaust heat and another means to mix steam into an intake device through a valve to control according to an engine output load.
CONSTITUTION: A water tank 1 is arranged at a given height, and the water is introduced to a valve 2. A distributing water pipe connecting the valve 2 and a switching valve 5 is arranged to penetrate and exhaust manifold 4 of an engine proper 3. Then, the switching valve 5 is connected to an intake device 6 and an exhaust pipe 7, which is actuated by the air introduced to an air cylinder 8 from an air tank 7 through a solenoid operated valve 9. On the other hand, a load detector 10 is mounted on a control rack 12 of a fuel injection pump 11, and an output of the detector 10 is connected to the solenoid operated valve 9. When said detector 10 detects a medium load or high load, a current is carried to the solenoid operated valve 9 to supply the air, and steam is introduced into the intake device 6 through the selector 5.
