Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture and supply the inert gas without igniting an auxiliary boiler by reigniting exhaust gas from a diesel main engine by means of a combustor when normal voyage at which the auxiliary boiler is not burnt.
CONSTITUTION: One part of the exhaust gas from the main engine 1 is branched from an outlet pipe of an exhaust gas economizer 2, and introduced into a suction fan 3 through a control valve 3a. The suction fan 3 extracts the amount of the exhaust gas from the main engine required, and pushes the gas into the combustor 4. The combustor 4 is given fuel F and the proper amount of air A, and reignites the gas, and the inert gas having the low concentration of oxygen is obtained. The inert gas generated passes through a washer 5, and is supplied to each cargo tank T by means of a fan 6. The auxiliary boiler need not be ignited only for generating the inert gas, and there is not necessity for installing a dump valve with large capacity.
