Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform turning of a hull effectively, by providing projections to a starboard and a port at the bow above the water line so that when turning of the vessel is required in the frozen sea the hull is listed to cause one of the projection to touch with the ice and then the turning is performed.
CONSTITUTION: Projections 2 are provided to a starboard and a port at the bow of the hull slightly above a waterline 12 of normal straight sailing, and therefore the projections 2 will not subjected to any influence when the vessel generally sails straight. When turning of the vessel is required in the frozen sea the hull is listed to cause one of the projections 2 to touch with the ice and then the turning will be performed using the touched point as its turning center.
