Abstract
PURPOSE: To dispose of dust efficiently and economically at low temperature by a method wherein reacted products by neutralization are heated to melt, together with dust in waste gas, then cooled and disposed of.
CONSTITUTION: Waste gas from a trash incinerator 1 is introduced into a gas cooling chamber 2, and cooled by water sprayed from spray nozzles 3 arranged in the upper portion of the chamber 2. The gas is then fed into a harmful-gas remover 4, where harmful gases are contacted and reacted with fine particles of an aqueous alkaline solution sprayed from spray nozzles 5 arranged in the upper portion, and dried to solidify by evaporation. The gas containing the reaction products of the harmful acid gases and the alkaline solution as well as the dust from the incinerator 1, is passed through a cyclone 6 and an electric dust catcher 7, where the dust and reaction products are removed, and the dust and the like are fed into a small melting furnace 10. The melt in the furnace 10 is discharged into a cooling tank 11 for cooling and solidification, and excessive alkali is dissolved in water for reuse.
