Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent harmful material from dissolving out of residual material and to utilize waste heat, solid waste containing organic and inorganic components is thermally decomposed in a thermal decomposition furnace and produced ash residue is introduced into a melting furnace from which heated waste gas is guided into a boiler.
CONSTITUTION: Waste material 7 charged into the thermal decomposition furnace 1 contacts gas for thermal decomposition use supplied from the lower part and is thermally decomposed at a lower temperature. Residue containing ash-like carbonaceous materaial is discharged from the lower outlet 6 of the furnace 1 and transported by the carrier 9 to be charged into the melting furnace 10. Gas produced by thermal dicomposition is discharged from the outlet 4 and used as a fuel for the water heat boiler 8. Residue in the furnace 10 is heated to a relatively high temperature to melt noncombustiabl such as metals. The molten product 13 is discharged into the water cooling bath 16 to be quenched and properly stored through the discharging machine 17. Gas generated at melting operation is sent to the waste heat boiler 8 to recover heat and then discharged.
