Abstract

PURPOSE:To cheaply granulate the titled batch by introducing exhaust gas of a predetermined temp. from a borosilicate glass melting furnace into a granulator, where the titled batch is granulated in the presence of sprayed water, dehydrated, and solidified to effectively recover heat and contained boric acid from the exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:In the granulation of a batch of borosilicate glass starting materials blended with a binder, hot exhaust gas from a borosilicate glass starting material melting furnace is adjusted to a temp. at which the glass starting materials do not stick to each other, and it is introduced into granulator 5 from duct 11. The batch is then thrown into granulator 5 through weighing machines 2, mixer 4 and charger 10, granulated in the presence of water sprayed from sprayer 6, and dried. By this method it is not required to recover boric acid in the exhaust gas in a separate recovering process, the heat of the gas is recovered effectively to enhance the yield, and air pollution is prevented.
