Abstract

PURPOSE: To recycle the casting waste sand contg. alkali seeds to neutral resources by heat treating the same in air current.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a quartz-made reaction tube is installed into a continuous or batch type heating furnace, and the casting waste sand contg. alkali seeds is packed in the reaction tube. Thence, while air (or carbon dioxide gas) is being flowed into the reaction tube, the sand is heat-treated for more than 1hr at 600°C. Since the contained alkali seeds are fixed (insolubilized) by this treatment, they become neutral and the waste sand is recycled.
