Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify apparatus and also to remove acid substances economically by recovering acid substances present in waste gas in the form of ammonium compounds and then by recovering ammonia from the ammonium compounds for reuse.
CONSTITUTION: The waste gas 1 containing HCl, sulfur oxides, etc., is introduced into the reactor 2, where acid substances are converted into ammonium salts by the ammonia sprayer 4 and then collected with fine dusts by the electric dust collector 4 at a proper temperature. Then, the collected substances are sent to the stirred tank 12 through the screw conveyer 11 and then mixed with water and an alkali solution supplied through the pipe 17 for regenerating ammonia. The regenerated ammonia is then sent to the ammonia sprayer 4 by the blower 14 and then reacted with acid substances present in waste gas to form ammonium salts which are in turn treated in the same way as the aforesaid one. It is supplied through the pipe 23 only when the ammonia balance was broken. The waste gas from the electric dust collector 8 is discharged through the blower 21 to the stack 23. Thus, the treatment of waste gas and the treatment of waste water can be concurrently carried out, thus curtailing installation cost and other expenditures.
