Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily remove multicomponent corrosive gases by putting an ultraviolet lamp into a quartz glass tube set between former and latter stage activated carbon filters; producing O3 from cleaned air; and subjecting gas to be treated to effective O3-photooxidation.
CONSTITUTION: Quartz glass tube 11 provided with low voltage mercury lamp at the center is set between former stage activated carbon filter 2 and latter stage activated carbon filter 3. Part of cleaned air is fed into tube 11 by suction with pump 5 and irradiated with far ultraviolet rays during passing through gap 12 to produce O3 from O2 in the air. This O3-contg. air is mixed into air from which corrosive gases of higher oxidation state have been removed with filter 2, and the mixed air is subjected to ozone-photooxidation with longer wavelength side ultraviolet rays during passing through the space between duct 1 and tube 11. Thus, corrosive gases of lower oxidation state are turned into oxidation products of higher degree and thoroughly removed with filter 4.
