Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve a measurement precision without direct detection of the surface state of a measured object by detecting a non-image signal from the visual field edge of a detector to the edge light receiving point of the measured object and generating an edge width signal to obtain actual width dimensions.
CONSTITUTION: Linear array sensors 4 and 5 start scanning simultaneously with receiving of scanning start pulse 12 from start pulse generation circuit 12 and scan successively the visual field from one end to the other end for every input of the scanning pulse of driving scanning circuit 11. Meanwhile, edge width detection circuit 21 outputs rise signal S21 when receiving scanning start pulse S12. When sensors 4 and 5 reach a desired position of the edge of measured object 1, the output of edge width detection circuit 21 indicates break. Signal S22 is obtained from this output S21 by gate circuit 22. Signal 22 is counted by counter circuit 19 and is transferred as edge signals W1 and W1' to operation circuit 20' for every scanning, and actual width dimension Wx is calculated surely with a high precision.
