Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically change the position of a gate through the voltage variation and perform automatic flaw detection by providing a circuit in which a gate starting output voltage varies in proportional to the distance between the probe and the weld metal.
CONSTITUTION: A voltage at a flaw detecting starting reference point of the detecting member is set in a voltage setter 6, and the moving distance from the flaw detection reference point is measured by a detection signal A from the position detector attached to the detecting member. A voltage proportional to the moving distance is produced from a potential divider 4, and is offset by a voltage from the voltage setter 6 through a voltage adder 5. A comparator 7 compares the voltage produced from the voltage adder 5 with a sweep voltage B from the flaw detector, and a sweep voltage equal to the input voltage of the voltage adder is led out from the comparator 7, and delivered from a terminal C as a gate starting pulse.
