Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively prevent image drop-out and the occurrence of separation defect by detecting the potential of the photoreceptor before development after exposure and controlling the discharge quantity of a separating charger according to the potential thus detected.
CONSTITUTION: AC voltage whose maximum value is constant is applied to the terminals 13b, 13c of the primary winding 13a of a transformer. A separating charger 4 is connected to one end of the secondary winding 13d and a capacitor 14b is connected in series through a resistance 14a to the other end. The secondary winding 14c of the transformer is connected in parallel to the capacitor 14b via diodes 14d, 14e, 14f, 14g. The voltage from a control circuit is applied to the terminals 14i, 14j of the primary winding 14h of the transformer and when the output signal from the potential of the photoreceptor changes, the voltage being applied to the terminals of the primary winding 14h changes and the voltage being applied to the separating charger 4 changes. By controlling the discharge quantity of the separating charger 4 to an optimum value in this way, image drop-out and the occurrence of separation defect may be effectively prevented.
