Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible small size, high sensitivity and high speed without the need for increasing the output of the zero phase current transformer by so arranging the detector that even if the output of the zero phase current transformer in the leak detector is of a low level the detection operation is surely performed.
CONSTITUTION: When leak occurs in AC electric lines L1, L2 and an unbalance current flows, the secondary side induced voltage of a zero phase current transformer ZCT changes. This secondary output is accumulated in the capacitor C of a rectifying smoothing circuit F and in addition when the abovementioned secondary output becomes of the specified value, the voltage detecting element SL of a voltage detecting circuit E which detects the output voltage by directely connecting to the zero phase current transformer ZCT emits light, causing the switching element of a driving circuit S to conduct. Hence, the energy stored in the capacitor C is discharged through a trip coil TC to drive a trip coil TC which in turn causes a circuit breaker B to break the AC electric lines L1, L2.
