Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform denitrification and dephosphorization in the same process by a method wherein numbers of the process consisting of anaerobic nitrification and denitrification processes are connected in series and raw water is devided to be injected each of denitrification and anaerobic processes except the final denitrification process.
CONSTITUTION: Raw water containing nitrogen and phosphorous is passed through the inlet pipe 1 and devided to be injected into the anaerobic tank Dx and the downstream denitrification tanks D1WDn-1 (except the final denitrification tank Dn). From the final sedimentation tank S, concentrated and separated active sludge is returned through the sludge pipe 2. Depending on the concentration ratio of nitrogen and phosphorus containined in the raw water, the active sludge may be sent through the pipes 3, 4 to either the anaerobic tank Dx or the raw water feed pipe. In the nitrification tanks N1WNn, phosphate dissolved in the raw water is biologically taken in excessive amount under an aerobic condition. The raw water from which nitrogen and phosphrous are completely removed is finally sent to the final sedimentation tank S where solid and liquid are separated and discharged for flowing.
