Abstract

PURPOSE:To stably obtain a high-density image at high speed by applying image signals so that the electric field intensity of a required recording electrode may be higher than those of adjacent record electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Image signals are applied so that the electric field intensity of an electrode 1 selected from plural recording electrodes 1 arranged in a straight line may be higher than those of adjacent electrodes 1. Plural recording electrodes 1 consisting of fine wires of pure iron, for example, are arranged at regular intervals on a plane, and a long and slender magnet 2 cut from a rubber magnet sheet is adhered to a portion near the tip end of the recording electrode group. Counter electrodes 8 are arranged with a slit therebetween, and recording paper 9 is disposed in front of a support member 10. A magnetic ink 3 upheaved on the electrodes 1 by magnetic force is caused to fly onto the paper 9 by the coulomb force due to a bias voltage created between the electrode 1 and 8 by a power source 13 and to a voltage selectively applied by signal sources 11 and 12.
