Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent spark discharge and maintain stable recording condition and recording quality by coating with a dielectric a control electrode of a device wherein a coulomb force causes ink to fly or migrate to form a record. CONSTITUTION:In a device wherein a voltage is applied between a recording electrode 1 and a control electrode 3 and the resulting coulomb force causes ink 2 to fly or migrate to record an image, the electrode 3 is coated with a dielectric 4. It is perferable to use a material having a specific resistance of 10<9>-10<10>OMEGAcm as the dielectric 4. The conductive ink 2 is contained in a tank 1 fitted with an ink injection nozzle 1a made, for example, of stainless steel, and recording paper 5 is placed on the control electrode 3 covered with a cellulose triacetate coat 4 added with amorphous carbon powder. The ink 2 is selectively flown onto the paper 5 by the coulomb force due to an electric field applied between the electrodes 1 and 3 from a bias power source 7 and a recording power source 6.
