Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible printing in positive polarity surely without causing dot missing while making best use of the characteristics of high definition of positive polarity by providing the specific dielectric layer on a conductive base member.
CONSTITUTION: The dielectric layer 12 composed of an insulation type inorganic pigments 9, conductive inorganic pigments 10 and organic regin finder 11 is provided on conductive base paper 8. Pulse voltage of positive polarity is applied to the multi-stylus head 1 on this electrostatic recording paper 13. In the region A, electrons are injected from the base paper 8 into the pigments 10a and are released to the voids near the same. With these field emission electrons as a start, the discharge spreads over the entire part of the electrode 1. In the region B, the conductivity of the pigments 10b is large and when the dielectric relaxation time is sufficiently shorter as compared to the applied voltage pulse width, the internal fields of the pigments 10b become nearly zero. Hence, this results in that high electric fields are applied to the voids near the region B, thus increasing discharge propability. With this discharge as a start, the discharge spreads over the entire part of the electrode 1, thus dot missing is nearly perfectly prevented.
