Abstract

PURPOSE:To make an efficient injection of ink jet particles by means of low voltage control signals by a method wherein a control electrode is provided facing a needle electrode at the neighborhood of a nozzle or a slit and an electric field acting between both electrodes is stronger on the needle electrode side. CONSTITUTION:When control electrodes 11a, 11b are set on an insulating orifice plate 10 and an electric field is given between the needle electrode 3 and the control electrodes, electric force lines appear as illustrated. The electric field is determined by a width (l) of the control electrodes, a diameter (d) of the needle electrode 3, a distance (a) between the control electrodes and the needle electrode 3. When nonpolarized fluid is considered as the ink 7, a force in proportion to grad (E)<2> (E: strength of electric field) is added to the ink 7, the ink 7 moves in the direction of the needle electrode 3, is atomized by its energy and runo toward recording paper 4. Since the energy is on a high level by an acceleration voltage impressed on an acceleration electrode 5, the grad (E)<2> can be small and control signals impressed on the control electrodes 11a, 11b can take a low voltage.
