Abstract

PURPOSE: To set pouring timing and pouring speed as desired by boosting the inside of a melting chamber through injection of inert gas and flowing molten material into the molding cavity and at the same time exhausting the inert gas in the cavity.
CONSTITUTION: Inert gas is injected into a melting chamber 1 and the melting chamber 1 and sprue 22 are maintained under nearly the same pressure. Differential pressures are maintained between the melting chamber 1 and pouring chamber 2. The differential pressures cause the inert gas to flow as steady flow into the pouring chamber 2. The molten material 33 is carried on the inert gas flow by said differential pressures and its own weight and smoothly flows from the sprue 22 into the molding cavity 23, thus it is pushed deep into the cavity at a correct speed. At the same time, the inert gas in the sprue 22 and molding cavity 23 are exhausted through a gas vent line 24 to outside the mold 15. This method enables the timing delay of pouring to be reduced and lets casting be correctly done even in the slender portions.
