Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain toner recording of excellent picture quality at low signal voltage, by forming a bias magnetic field in the gap between recording electrode and counter electrode, and superposing this field over the signal field. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic toner 8 dropping on a roll 2 from a hopper 9 deposits on the rugged circumference of a counter electrode 1 due to action of magnetic field between magnets 6, 7, and is conveyed in the direction of a by rotation of the drum and passes through a gap 4. A signal voltage E to a recording electrode 3 is applied to the gap 4, and an electric field corresponding to picture image information is formed between the recording electrode 3 and counter electrode 1, so that the magnetic toner 8 is selectively deposited on a recording paper 5, and a toner image corresponding to the signal information is recorded. Permanent magnets 10 are provided on both sides of the recording electrode 3, and the bias magnetic field produced by the permanent magnets 10 is superposed on said electric field.
