Abstract
1405564 Electrographic development WIFO WISSENSCHAFTLICHES FORSCHUNGSINSTITUT AG 6 Dec 1973 [28 Dec 1972] 56670/73 Heading G2H An apparatus for the magnetic brush developing of an electrostatic image on a sheet 15, comprises a stationary permanent magnet 3 and a screen 4 of magnetizable material so disposed within a hollow rotatable cylinder 2 of non- magnetic material as to produce at its surface successive magnetic field zones: zone α of medium intensity sufficient to take up developer powder 5 (comprising magnetizable particles) from a container 10, zone γ of higher intensity for forming the magnetic brush 6, and zone # of sufficiently low intensity to shed developer powder from the cylinder 2 and return it to the container 10. The apparatus includes contrarotating stirrers 11 and a developer thickness controlling scraper 13. The screen 4 may be solid, as shown, or may comprise laminations of soft iron having outwardly fanned ends. The cylindrical permanent magnet 3 may be replaced by a bar magnet with a soft iron pole piece of semicircular cross-section.
