Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the image quality of nonimage parts by providing means of forming charge opposite from the polarity of electrostatic latent images on the nonimage parts excluding the electrostatic image forming parts on the surface of a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:Signal voltage is applied by pin electrodes 2 to the recording medium 1 on a conductive drum 6 to form electrostatic latent images which are then visualized by the developer in a developing section 3, are transferred to recording paper in a transfer section 4 and are fixed by fixing means. The recording medium 1 is further cleaned of the residual developer in the cleaning and destaticizing section. Pin electrodes 7 for charging nonimage parts are further provided to this known constitution, by which charging of the polarity opposite to the potential polarity of the image recording parts is accomplished. Thereby, the image quality of the nonimage parts may be improved without decreasing the potential in the image recording parts.
