Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize an asynchronous up/down counter circuit which does not generate malfunctions, by providing an up/down switching gate between cascaded flip flops and providing a register to store the counted value. CONSTITUTION:FF1-FF8 which constitute an asynchronous counter are cascaded, and gate circuits G1-G3 are arranged between adjacent FFs respectively. When up/ down switching terminal 18 is H-level, the Q output of each FF is inputted to the trigger of the succeeding-stage FF to perform up-count. When up/down switching is performed, a store signal is given to terminal 36, and states of FF1-FF4 are given to FF5-FF8. Next, after resetting FF1-FF4, states of FF5-FF8 are transferred to FF1-FF4 to start down-count.
