Abstract

PURPOSE: To stably control molten level by measuring the change in the molten steel level is mold and correcting nozzle opening from the movement quantity of slab with consideration being paid for abrasion loss and clogging.
CONSTITUTION: Molten steel in a tundish 1 is poured via nozzles 3, 4 into a mold 5 and a slab 6 is drawn out from below. At this time, a slab movement calculator 12 receives a signal at each fixed internal from a timing generator 11, is inputted with the pulse number corresponding to the slab movement quantity from the pulse generator 10 mounted to a drawing roll 9 and calculates the movement quantity per unit time. On the other hand, a molten steel change quantity calculator 14, upon receiving of the signal from the timing generator 11, takes in the level value of the mold 5 from a molten steel level detector 8 and calculates the difference from the previously taken-in value. Then a nozzle opening calculator 15 is inputted with the output L of the calculator 12 and the specifications and constant K of that time from a slab specification memory device 13 and calculates the opening of the nozzle 3 so that the molten steel level becomes constant.
