Abstract
PURPOSE: To automate continuous casting, by changing the controlling target of molten metal surface in accordance with measured molten metal surface so that the molten metal surface may be maintained at a prescribed normal level.
CONSTITUTION: The molten metal is supplied to mold 3 through nozzle 4, and a control target level of molten metal surface contained in the mold is set to a value which is lower than that of the desired normal level, and then the operating amount is instructed to stopper adjusting device C through control operation function of central operation adjusting device E by starting cushion method.Thus, the molten metal surface in mold 3 rises towards the desired normal level, and, when the surface reaches the set level, the cushion method is cancelled and normal condition starts. Moreover, when dummy bar 1 is to be pulled out, a pulling out starting instruction is given to pulling out speed adjusting device A from central operation adjusting device E. Thus, the molten metal surface rises up smoothly.
