Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively remove fluorine compounds by precipitation, calcium hydroxide is added for reaction in an amount of more than stoichiometric amount to the content of fluorine compounds in the liquid to be treated, and the reacted liquid is neutralized by carbon dioxide gas.
CONSTITUTION: Liquid to be treated containing fluorine compounds such as ammonium silicofluoride is added with calcium hydoxide in an amount of more than stoichiometric quantity to the content of fluorine compounds and pH of liquid is adjusted to 11 or higher. The mixture is reacted while stirring at 60°C or higher, then coagulant is added to the product to form coagulated precipitate. Carbon dioxide gas is injected into the supernatant to neutralize. The process reduces the total fluorine amount in the treated liquid to about 5ppm.
