Abstract

PURPOSE: The reaction between cephalosporic acid and 2-alkoxyiminobutyric acid derivative bearing protected carbonyl group in the 3-position is effected to eliminate the above protecting group, followed by halogenation and reaction with thiourea to give the title compound.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction between a compound of formula I (R2 is carboxyl or so) and a compound of formula II (R1 is residue or aliphatic hydrocarbyl; X' is H, halogen; Y is protected carbonyl) or its reactive derivative whose carboxyl group is activated, is effected to give a compound of formula III or its salt. Then, the protecting group on the carbonyl is eliminated to give the compound of formula IV. Further, the compound of formula IV where X' is H is halogenated and the product is made to react with a compound of the formula R5-CSNH2 (R5 is amino, protected amino) in a solvent of water or methanol to give the compound of formula V.
USE: They have antibacterial activity.
