Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise heat resistance and corrosion resistance of molten aluminium- plated steel plate by inactivating the surface of the steel plate and then by coating it with an inorganic paint of specific silicates.
CONSTITUTION: A molten aluminium-plated steel plate is beforehand treated its surface with an alkali metal silicate aqueous solution of a SiO2/R2O(R is an alkali metal) molal ratio of more than 1 either at ordinary temperature or by heating and then coated with an aqueous inorganic paint containing an alkali metal silicate of the formula R'2O.SiO2(R' is an alkali metal or ammonium) as a binder and a phosphorus compound as a hardener. Thus, defects such as blistering, pinholes, etc., can be eliminated and lustrous strong color coat can be formed, raising the heat resistance and corrosion resistance of molten aluminium-plated steel plate.
