Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare spray coating material for coating of hot steel surface and applicable by dry coating process, by covering the surface of inorganic powder or inorganic short fibers with an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt of boric acid, phosphoric acid, silicic acid, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The objective coating material can be obtained by applying (A) one or more compounds selected from boric acid, phosphoric acid, silicic acid, and their alkali or alkaline earth metal salts (e.g. sodium tetrapolyphosphate, etc.) to the surface of (B) inorganic powder such as Al2O3 powder and/or inorganic short fibers such as asbestos. The preferable ratio of the component (A) which is a coating assistant, to the component (B) is 0.001W1 by weight.
USE: Heat insulation of the surface of hot steel having a temperature of ≥300°C.
