Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform uniform painting with desired painted film properties on a metal member through a simple process, by effecting electrodeposition painting on the metal member first, then coating a liquid paint and heating and drying both the painted films.
CONSTITUTION: An anion or cation electrodeposition paint is firstly coated by electrodeposition on a metal member such as a shaped steel sheet so that the dried film thickness of the paint is 2W40μ. A liquid paint with a solid content of 25W60% by weight is then coated on the former paint by dipping, flow coating or the like without heating the former paint to fix it as a film. Both the paints are finally heated to simultaneously fix them as a film. The thick paint film can thus be uniformly coated through a simple process.
