Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve coating workability in a workshop with increased adherence to the base as well as enhanced drying speed as to a facing material by immersion of a steel in hot water, taking it out to coat a water-soluble inorganic zinc rich paint on it followed by application of a facing material n the coated surface.
CONSTITUTION: A steel to be coated is immersed in hot water of 50°C or more; then taking it out to coat on its surface with a water-soluble inorganic zinc rich paint containing an alkali silicate as a binder, followed by application of a facing material on the coated surface to prevent the zinc present in the coating film from dissipation. On coating the paint, it becomes dry in 20W30 seconds, resulting in good adherence to the steel surface; during the above short period, there occurs little temperature lowering; therefore, the drying speed of the facing material applied on the coated surface subsequent to the above period is much enhanced.
