Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a plate of long life for a lead storage battery by adding surfactant to the aqueous dispersion of emulsion polymer polytetrafluoroethylene to then mix the active material and adding sulfuric acid to the mixture to then again mix paste therewith and filling the paste therein for ageing.
CONSTITUTION: Nonionic surfactant is added to polytetrafluoroethylene obtained by emulsion polymerization and diluted with refined water to thereby provide aqueous dispersion. Nonionic surfactant or anionic surfactant is added as thickening agent to the dispersion to then preliminarily mix the active material. Sulfuric acid is added to the mixture, and remixed paste is charged into a lattice for ageing. It is preferable to set pH of the surfactant higher than 1. 3 in the dispersion. Thus, it can provide a plate of long life without decreasing the capacity and voltage.
