Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the capacity reduction of a sealed lead storage battery cuased by deep discharge and overchange using a Pb-Ag-Sn alloy of a specific composition for the positive electrode grid of sealed lead storage batteries.
CONSTITUTION: A positive electorde plate is consisted of a Pb-Ag-Sn alloy grid composed of 0.01wt% silver, 0.01∼1wt% tin and lead and filled with a paste composed of lead dioxide and dilute sulfuric acid. A negative electrode plate is consisted of a Pb-Ca alloy grid composed of 0.05wt% calcium and lead and filled with a paste composed of lead dioxide, barium sulfate and dilute sulfuric acid. After formation of the electrode plates, an assembly of the positive electrode plate, negative electrode plate and a separator is immersed in an electrolytic gel composed of a water dispersion of anhydrous silicic acid and undiluted sulfuric acid to make a storgae battery.
