Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide high reliability and to improve self-discharge by a construction wherein the plate of a lead accumulator comprises a clad-type anode plate and a paste-type cathode plate using a mechanically processed grid of alloy containing Pb-Ca. CONSTITUTION:A lead accumulator is formed by putting a group of poles 1 in a battery jar and connecting them to a terminal 8 via a strap 7. The group of poles 1 is provided in the form of rolled anode plate 2, cathode plate 5 and separator 6. In this case, a grid-type anode plate 2 is used for the anode plate 2, while a paste-type cathode plate 5 is used for the cathode plate 5. In addition, a grid 3 used for the cathode plate 5 should be the one made of alloy containing Pb-Ca with excellent self-discharge characteristics, the grit being mechanically processed through the expanding method and the like. It is preferred to use one continuous sheet for the paste-type cathode plate 5 and the separator 6.
